POLICY / EDITORIAL SAFETY

Satire & editorial policy

How PRIVATE CRAPITAL separates fact from fiction, reviews risk and keeps publication a human decision.

Every published item is labelled satire

The page, headline context, social metadata and any detachable social artwork identify the work as SATIRE. A reader should not need the surrounding website to understand the nature of the item.

Fact before treatment

Published articles begin with an “Underlying story” section, link their supporting sources, then separate the satirical treatment. We use primary sources where practical and independently write factual propositions. We do not reproduce full publisher articles without a licence.

Risk lanes

  • GREEN: fictional institutions, generic archetypes and evergreen industry practices.
  • AMBER: named executives, brands, politicians, exact quotations or active controversies.
  • RED: crime or fraud allegations, litigation, insolvency, health, private individuals, market-moving rumours, thinly traded securities or personalised financial recommendations.

RED items require specialist review bound to the exact revision. Some subjects remain unsuitable even after review. We prefer fictional and composite targets when the joke does not need a real one.

Bright lines

We do not invent purported factual quotations, criminal conduct, regulatory findings, insolvency, death, illness, dismissal, sexual conduct or private behaviour concerning a real person. We do not publish buy, sell or hold recommendations, price targets, personalised advice, or investment- product affiliate links.

Approval and correction

Automation may assist discovery, structuring and drafting, but cannot publish. A human editor reviews the exact revision and confirms publication server-side. Material errors are corrected transparently; unsafe items can be unpublished rapidly while an append-only audit history remains.
